Description
Latex coated work gloves are seamless knitted gloves whose palm and fingers have been dipped in natural rubber latex. The rubber is given a wrinkled "crinkle" finish that grips rough, wet and dusty materials very firmly, while the uncoated knitted back lets the hand breathe. They are a step up from cotton gloves for construction, masonry, glass and tile handling, and general site work.
What are latex coated gloves good for?
- Handling bricks, blocks, rods, shuttering and scaffolding tubes
- Carrying glass sheets, tiles, marble and sanitary ware
- Loading and unloading in warehouses and transport
- Gardening, waste collection and municipal work
- Wet or damp handling where cotton gloves slip
Latex, nitrile or PVC dots — which grip glove?
| Coating | Best at | Weak point |
|---|---|---|
| Crinkle latex | Wet and dry grip, rough materials, abrasion | Softens with oils and solvents |
| Nitrile | Oily and greasy parts, engineering work | Less grip in the wet |
| PVC dots on cotton | Light dry handling at low cost | Little protection, no wet grip |
What should you know before buying?
- Sizes — medium, large and extra large. The glove should fit snugly; a loose coated glove bunches in the palm and tires the hand.
- Coverage — the coating covers the palm and fingertips only. The back of the hand is knitted fabric and is not waterproof.
- Marking — work gloves sold for mechanical risks are normally marked to EN 388, with four numbers showing abrasion, cut, tear and puncture performance. Compare those numbers when choosing between gloves.
Who should avoid them?
Natural rubber latex can cause an allergic reaction in some people. Anyone who gets itching, redness or a rash from latex should use a nitrile- or polyurethane-coated glove instead.

Applications
- Construction, masonry and rod-binding work
- Glass, tile, marble and sanitary ware handling
- Warehouse loading and unloading
- Gardening and landscaping
- Waste collection and municipal cleaning
Recommended usage
Choose a snug size and wear the gloves for handling rough, wet or dusty materials. Rinse off cement and mud after work and dry them in the shade. Replace the pair when the coating is worn through on the fingertips or palm.
Safety instructions
Contains natural rubber latex, which can cause allergic reactions. The back of the glove is not coated and gives no liquid protection — not for chemicals. Latex softens with oils and solvents. Do not wear near rotating machinery, and do not use for hot work or welding.
Frequently asked questions
What are latex coated gloves used for?
Latex coated gloves are used for handling rough, heavy and slippery materials such as bricks, rods, glass, tiles and wet timber. The crinkled rubber palm gives a firm grip in wet and dry conditions and resists abrasion.
Are latex coated gloves waterproof?
Only the coated palm and fingers are waterproof. The back of the hand is open knitted fabric, so water and chemicals can get through it; for immersion or chemical work you need a fully coated or unsupported rubber glove.
Which is better, latex or nitrile coated gloves?
Latex is better for wet grip and rough building materials, while nitrile is better for oily and greasy parts. Latex is softer and more elastic; nitrile resists oils and is the choice for people with a latex allergy.
What size coated gloves should I buy?
Most adult men in Bangladesh take size L (9), with M (8) for smaller hands and XL (10) for larger ones. A coated glove should fit snugly without loose fabric in the palm.
